Shade & Temple

Affiliate Disclosure

How this site is funded, in plain English — and our promise that it never changes which sunglasses we recommend.

The short version

Shade & Temple is free to read because some of the links to products on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price you would have anyway; the retailer shares a small part of its margin with us for the referral. That commission is how the site keeps the lights on.

Amazon Associates

Shade & Temple is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Most of the buy links on this site point to Amazon, tagged with our Associates ID (shadeandtemple-20).

Every outbound product link is marked rel="sponsored" and carries an #adlabel near it, in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines and Google’s link policies.

It does not change our recommendations

This is the part that matters. The reasoning behind a pick is identical whether a link earns us anything or not. When a cheaper pair is the better buy, that’s our top pick — even though a pricier one would pay us more. We compare sunglasses on their published specs and honest buyer fit, exactly as described on our how we choosepage, and we list real trade-offs and a “skip this if” on every pick. If a program ever asked us to change a verdict, we’d drop the program.

How prices work

We never hand-type a price into an article. Every price you see is pulled live from the retailer and stamped with the date it was checked; if it goes stale, it disappears and the button falls back to “Check price on Amazon.” So the number you see is either current or absent — never a guess and never an old figure. Prices and availability change constantly; always confirm the current price on the retailer’s site before buying.

Other programs

At launch, Amazon is the only affiliate program we earn from. This vertical has brand-direct and network programs (Sunglass Hut, Ray-Ban and others) that we may join over time; if we do, those links will earn a commission on the same terms described here, and this page will say so. We will never wire tracking for a program we haven’t actually joined.
